Rhinoplasty recovery happens gradually. Swelling improves considerably during the first few weeks, but the nose continues to refine for several months.
Swelling, bruising around the eyes, congestion, and a puffy appearance are common. Keeping your head elevated and following your surgeon’s instructions can help manage discomfort and swelling.
The nasal splint is generally removed after approximately five to eight days. Any external sutures may also be removed during this period.
Bruising and visible swelling usually improve enough for many patients to return to work, school, and routine social activities. Strenuous exercise, bending, and anything that could place pressure on the nose will still be restricted.
The nose begins to look more settled as swelling continues to decrease. Your surgeon will let you know when you can resume exercise and other physical activities.
The nasal shape becomes increasingly refined, although subtle swelling may remain, particularly around the tip.
